A New Home for the Celebrity Ducklings
(June 4, 2005)

Where are we going, Mom?
![]() |
"It's time for the kids to move out on their own. I can't wait to redecorate their room!"
![]() |
"Permanent Summer Camp sounds fun! Let's go!"
![]() |
"Is it this way? Or that way?"
![]() |
Miss Murphy, Kozmo Kirby and Bingo Baloo are now the newest residents at the City of Everett's
Forest Park Animal Farm.
![]() |
They have their very own house.
(Um... that's a goose on the illustrated sign, but close enough).
![]() |
With an enclosed night-time pen.
![]() |
And a day-time pool, too!
![]() |
But as you can see, kids can't touch or hold the ducks. They just get to look.
![]() |
"Hey, look! New kids!"
![]() |
"Where are you from? Are you ducks like us? This is our pool. C'mon in. You're yellow. That's cool."
![]() |
"Your orange feet are neat."
"Thanks. I like your white patch too."
![]() |
Flapper & Georgie's ducklings made fast friends with the cayugas
and are now doing great with their new ducky buddies.
![]() |
They also have piglet buddies.
![]() |
Chicks.
![]() |
Goat buddies.
![]() |
And more.
![]() |
The Forest Park Animal Farm is a great place for little kids to learn about animals.
(I can't tell if this kid is excited about animals or needs a bathroom break).
![]() |
Here a staff member shows two boys how to gently pet a baby goat.
![]() |
And these two seem to be enjoying the view of the chicken run.
![]() |
They stood like that for at least five minutes.
![]() |
Very cute.
![]() |
Good luck with your new friends in your new home, kids!
"Thanks, Grandma!"
![]() |
I'll come back and visit you next weekend.
(I might even sneak in some grapes for you.)
If you're near Seattle and want to visit them, you can read more about their new home here:

So how did Georgie and Flapper adjust to the kids leaving?
![]() |
"I think I'll take a nap."
![]() |
"That's a smashing idea, dear."
![]() |
With the ducklings leaving, Flapper & Georgie are free to enjoy their newly expanded ducky condo.
![]() |
I sprained a few knuckles adding on the extension, but they're healed now, and they even bend again!
![]() |
The ducky condo is now 16-feet by 4-feet, with lava rock underneath and pea gravel on top.
This allows for great drainage and easy cleaning. I still need to finish some decorative rock borders.
![]() |
Enjoy your nap, Flapper & Georgie. You've earned it.
...
And lastly, let's take a quick look at "Riley Cam"
![]() |
So that's what you do while I'm at work. Uh huh. Figures, silly Riley. Enjoy your nap too.
:: stay tuned ::
