Goodbye to Miss Murphy

On Christmas Eve, Miss Murphy went to the vet because she hadn't laid an egg in 5 days and her belly still looked swollen. |
 |
One of her veterianarians removed a stuck egg, but also a mass, which she sent off to the lab for analysis. |
 |
On December 28th, Miss Murphy returned to the vet for a check-in, and to determine if surgery was necessary. She hadn't been eating well, and had lost weight in spite of the antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and tube-feeding. Her x-rays looked like there was just a broken egg left inside her, hopefully. So she was scheduled for surgery. |

On the morning of December 29th, Miss Murphy went into surgery. But as soon as her veterinarians opened her up, they stopped to call and tell me that she had cancer all through her. There was nothing more they could do for her. They recommended that I put her to sleep right then, and that was the end of the road for my sweet, good-looking biter, Miss Murphy. Miss Murphy was born on May 13, 2005 to papa Flapper & mother Georgie. |
 |
As you can obviously tell from her photos, she was the most beautiful duckling on the block. Perhaps even the entire world. |

She got prettier and prettier as she grew... |
 |
...until she was the prettiest duck around. |
 |
She was very good at flying... |
 |
...and also at standing on one leg. |
 |
You were a tough biter ducky like your dad, and for sure the cutest duckling around. |

Miss Murphy, if you see your sister Bingo Baloo, give her a kiss for me, okay? (And no biting!)
Rest in peace, my sweet girls. |
