Book Recommendation

For Flapper’s bedtime story, we’ve been reading “Alex & Me” by Irene M. Pepperberg, PhD.

Irene spoke at a local bookstore tonight, and we dropped in to hear her speak about Alex. Here’s a video of Alex’s obituary on Good Morning America last year.

Flapper? I had Irene sign her book for you, buddy. It says “To Mr Flapper, With best regards. Irene & Alex.”

“Really? Aww thanks, Mom!”
It was great to hear Irene speak tonight and we wish her much success with her book, “Alex & Me.” Alex was a very special colleague who taught us all so much about birds. Special thanks to Alex for giving so much to his feathered friends.

aww the video is awesome. – I remember seeing it on TV.. I will deff read the book now! Gotta catch up on what flapper’s reading!
Amazing video clip. That must be so hard on Irene, after 31 years! I knew parrots could speak and are quite intelligent, but this boggles the mind.
But we all know our birds have much more in them than most people give them credit for. Good reading Flapper and Tiff:-)
The book is on order. Excellent recommendation from Flapper’s Book Club.
All I can say is, amazing.
Flapper is so well-read these days.
I almost didn’t watch the video because I knew it would choke me up. And sure enough, it did.
We should probably get this book. It might help with our feathery dingbats, although conures aren’t as talkative or intelligent as greys (sorry, guys). Wesley the Owl is still on my to-read list.
wow 31 year thats crazy
I love Alex and purchased the book for both Jennifer and I. I have followed Alex a long time as I too am involved with parrots and have a grey myself. Thanks Tiff for the awesome video that makes me weep everytime I watch it. Mr. Flapper, you are the most awesome too! I luv you!
