Meelee and Simon Update

Miss Amelia Dingo (Meelee) still insists she deserves special treatment for enduring the humiliating visit to the vet’s office last night. Her blood results came back just perfect. Her thyroid was well within normal range which means she does not have hyperthyroidism. She is a little too skinny, so the vet thinks she may have the beginning of kidney disease. Many older cats have it, so we’ll take her back in for urinalysis and radiograph of her kidneys to see if kidney stones or an infection or something else is causing her to be so skinny. She’s active and happy, just a little thin. If she does have the start of kidney disease, it will be treatable. So she’s all good for now.

Simon is NOT skinny. He is 18lbs 15oz. His blood work came back with really good results though. He will be on a special diet to lose some of his chub chub, but overall he’s healthy and happy.
So, great results for both furry kids today. They’re just getting older and needed a check-up. We’re happy they’re doing well and will follow up with Meelee to make sure her kidneys are good and that she doesn’t lose any more weight.
Meow,
Tiff

Oh sure. He’s happy now, but how about when he has to go on his special diet or when he has to do cardio? Simon, you have my sympathies, brother.
Simon has such deep, soulful eyes.
But his inside voice is probably saying, “Who me? Diet? You kidding?”
“You can never be too rich or too thin,” -Miss Amelia Dingo
“You can never be, wait. What was the question?” -Simon
Look on the bright side, Tiff: You don’t need to invest in an expensive gym membership or a home gym. You can hold Malley in one hand, Simon in another, and do your curls and presses.
Kidding, dudes! You know I love you.
Simon is extremely photogenic, even with his chub chub. I just want to reach into the screen and boop that cute pink nose.
glad to see if there doing good
An answer to Simon’s chub chub problem is to get another younger kittie. That’s what i did with my older Harvey. I picked up a 4 month old cat (Wilbur) at the pound and they run around and play like crazy. It got harv’s weight under control and they love each other to death. Now i have another cat Mandy and she plays with Wilbur because he has so much energy and harv can’t keep up with him. They are all a lot of entertainment for me.
I’m glad that all the blood work came out so good.
I second the ‘get a younger kitty’ advice. My older cat lost six pounds in the after we got a younger cat for him to play with…of course, he gained some back after they settled into a comfortable rhythm, but we watch his diet closely now and have maintained much of his weight loss.
Nooooo more critters right now. Not yet. I will play with Simon, okay?
poor simon has to go on nutraslim? awwww. but he’s just big-boned!
very relieved to hear nothing serious going on with the kitties. i hope melee can put on some of the weight that simon loses.
Can you teach Simon to use the Wii Fit?
I’m very happy to hear that Meelee and Simon are doing good, that’s wonderful news! These are some great pictures, specially of Simon, what a hunk of a guy!
Foppe and Puck are too heavy too. But I don’t really mind, I always tell myself that they have heavy bones;-) (they are always bigger in winter, less active and too many snacks -the little furry ones-). Good of you to keep an eye on Meelee and her kidneys.
I hope both of them are doing okay without their sister. Best wishes:-)
Beautiful kitties! Though I have to admit that I have a soft spot for orange kitties. Actually, I have a lot of soft spots, due to my “chub chub” as you call it. That makes “fat” seem kinda cute even. Good luck to Meelee with her upcoming tests.
How beautiful is Meelee. What a gorgeous little lady!
