Waiting
We weren’t able to work on the aviary this weekend. We bought hardware cloth, ties, post caps and paver rocks on Saturday, but then it started raining. Sunday brought snow, high winds and more rain, so we stayed inside. In fact all the stuff we bought at the hardware store is still in the car, ha ha.
We did make it out to visit with the ducks of course, but there wasn’t much to do in high winds and rain, so even they stayed inside most of the weekend.

Flapper did share a bit of a muffin with me.

He is great at politely standing near me while waiting for his treats.

He’s a very good boy, even with a bit of mud on his bib.

O’Malley found time for some tail wagging.

And preening.

And more preening.

Before fluff drying his feathers.

Whoosh!
All in all a lazy weekend, because of the rain, snow and high-winds. Hopefully we’ll get some dry evenings or a good weekend next weekend to finish off the aviary and start getting plants and flowers going (my favorite part of spring).
Have a good week, everyone!

Well, that sucks. Not much you can do about the weather, though.
The boys are looking their best for the start of spring, that’s for sure. So happy and bright-eyed. And look at the gorgeous blue accents on O’Malley’s feathers!
Poor Flap and company, having to wait for the aviary.
Flap is looking handsome, and such good manners! O’Malley has gorgeous feathers and the good sense to show them off. I bet if you had the ability to see the look on his face to accompany that last shot, he’d be communicating, “Ladies, please – one at a time!”
Is Flapper a little thinner than usual? Or are his feather wet making him look a little trimmer?
Pansy: Flapper is neither thinner nor wet. Just flattering angles I guess.
Tiff, you forgot to mention the hail that also hit us all in one day. What a wild weekend of weather for the Puget Sound area. Flap and the others look like they are ready for their new digs. I’m excited for you Tiff.
I totally missed this! Where have I been? However I’m glad I checked your blog today and finding these pretty shots of Flapper and Malley:-)
Sorry that the weather sucked this weekend, I know all about it…. You plan things and the rain spoils the fun. But the kids can wait, they have their pens and supervised playtime.
Malley looks stunning, his feathers are in top condition! Snuggles would be so jealous. Flapper looks as handsome as ever, he can’t fail;-) Soon the weather will turn, I’m sure. We’re having quite nice Spring weather in Holland and the ducks love it.
I released Snowy and Suki this week, but I keep them inside for the night, I’m just very careful with them. Spirit is post-broody and still inside for a couple of days untill she is fully awake. I don’t want her to get into trouble while she is still in her broody-trance. My worst fear is that one of them flies into the goose pens by mistake, they are not yard-wise yet. But the Gelder girls are all doing great, no more soft eggs. Spirit and Snowy shared a nest untill Spirit got broody, they layed 26 eggs together and Snowy now has her own nest with three pretty eggs.
All is well at Foppe’s Acre, except that the geese are very agressive and loud these days. I don’t think we can enjoy some peace and quite untill June;-)
how much did this cost in total if you don’t mind me asking…
and how much was your premade mini pond?
