Plot
I think the new kids are plotting something.

But I am not too worried, because that is Olivia’s butt they’re talking to.

This is the front end of Racquel L’Oreal (because she’s worth it!). She’s pretty cute, for a fuzzy face. Who am I kidding? She is all fuzz.

Olivia is very cute, too. And sweet. She is a little cautious of me, but she talks to me every day. I don’t speak chicken though, so I am a little concerned that she is threatening me.

She reminds me a little bit of my baby boy O’Malley Peepers. Do you see the resemblance?

Sunny and the chickens are doing as well as can be expected.

Racquel L’Oreal is a little confusing at times.

But I’m starting to figure her out. I like her blue ears, don’t you? They’re BLUE.

In other news, Meelee is doing meh… okay, but not awesome. She is eating and I hope she’s gaining weight. She is old though… at least 15-years-old I think (hard to say exactly as she was a rescue, too). I know she can’t live forever, but I’d like her to hang out a bit longer. That’s really up to her at this point.

Flapper and Chewy enjoyed a nice, overcast Seattle day in the aviary. They’re good kids.
Lastly, since we’re medicating chickens, a duck and a cat this week, we thought we’d ask you take this poll…
POLL RESULT UPDATE: For me, the chickens are the easiest to give pills and liquid medication to — except of course for medication myself. That’s super easy as almost all of you noted in your votes.

Actually my Dobby-Kitty is easiest to medicate, I bottle raised him and he lets me pill him with no trouble. Since I always give him a little cream cheese afterward he actually comes running when I call out “Dobby want your medicine?”
OF course the real answer is self-medication. I love me some happy pills.
better living through chemistry!
They are all soooo cute! Is there a correct answer to your query?
Yes, Olivia and Malley have a similar eye color and shape, and similar badass attitude. Do you call the red part around her face a caruncle, as you do for Malley?
Since you speak Duck I think you’ll be able to pick up Chicken pretty easily. I hear it’s like Spanish and Portuguese.
Good to hear that the new kids are doing good. They look good! I think they are planning a coup
But Flapper and Malley will do anything to avoid it, IF they can figure out what these chicks are saying. Maybe Sunny can stand in as a translator?
Hang in there Meelee, just enjoy life, and eat.
I believe that my vet chuckled to himself all afternoon the first time he gave me pills for our duck Bunny. “It’s easy, just pop it in their beak & hold it until they swallow”. (There may have been more but that’s how I remember it) After much trial & error we settled on grinding the pill & sprinkling it on damp lettuce leaves which she would eat. Bunny had a large bumble on her foot removed so there were daily bandage changes. Now Bunny only comes close if she hears the “big bug” call.
Will Racquel let you pet her?? I bet she’s super soft
Racquel is super friendly, yes.
As a latter-day vet tech, I would say that it would be between my serene cat Gypsy (R.I.P.), and myself, although I have been told many times I am incredibly hard to medicate.
I do believe that Fluffy would be easier to medicate than Jessie (ducks), because that duck will open his bill for everything!
