Videos of New Rescues
Here is a video of Sunny the duck. You can see how her legs aren’t working very well. But she is 100-times better than she was a week ago when I picked her up. The medications must be helping everything for her.
Here’s Racquel L’Oreal the Chicken. This video turned out a little dark so we’ll have to try again another time. But take a look at her. Isn’t she fancy?
And lastly, here’s Olivia the Chicken. I really like Olivia. She is feisty but friendly.
All three kids are done with one of their medications. They still have two different kinds of antibiotics for another five days. We’re hoping to get Sunny the duck in to an avian veterinarian this coming Thursday. We’ll also do a follow-up fecal test on Racquel to make sure all four parasites are gone. Until then, they’re hanging in there and doing okay.
Aren’t they cute?

The last video failed, but I will try again later.
Thanks for sharing these, I hope Sunny will get better every day, it does look a lot like when my ducks prained their legs.
I always love to hear the chickens cluck, very sweet:-)
Good job on these kids, I hope they will all be well and even more happy soon!
They are adorable! I loved O’Malley’s cameo.
They are all really beautiful. I loooooove chicken noises. I could listen to chickens all day long.
You’re a good egg Tiff.
Yay, Sunny! Is there hope that she’ll ever walk well? In any case, I know you’ll find the best home possible for her.
Racquel has a lovely, sonorous cluck. She looks like a fuzzy muppet. (Don’t tell her I said that.)
Olivia gives off a Malley vibe — friendly and likes to cuddle, but woe be unto those who cross her.
Loved the videos. It’s nice to hear them making all their different sounds. I hope that Sunny can make a full recovery and be able to walk normal some day.
My father always called the Racquel type chickens “Polish chickens.” I don’t know why, but I’ll never forget that. Those chickens are really cute!
I’m glad Sunny is getting better!
Could Sunny’s problem be neurological?
Sunny’s problem is long-term untreated infection.
Our Pekin has been at the vet overnight. She was weak, staggering, not eating. She is doing better & gets to come home today. The only thing tests showed is anemia. Vet isn’t sure why yet. Any ideas?
Well… I cannot give an informed opinion based on that, and surely a vet knows more. But I would do an x-ray to rule out hardware disease (metal poisoning). It’ll cost around $40.
I’ve been thinking the same thing & put a call into our vet. We’ve had parrots for years & have heard cases where they’ve ingested metal and developed anemia. Thanks for your opinion.
I adore your site. Our flock isn’t as tame but we get so much enjoyment from them.
