A Cold Snap

“Well hello there. I am in the people tub tonight. We have a cold snap in Seattle so I am staying indoors.”

“Me and Chewy are warming up in the tub. It is cold water but it is sure warmer than outside.”

“Yeah, it’s cold outside! Meep meep coming through!”

“Okay I’m done.”
Then I’ll carry you back to your nesting spot, Chewy.

“Aaah. Now I have the whole tub to myself.”

“One last snack before bed time.”

Are you all tucked in, Racquel and Olivia?
“Yep. Roger that. We’re good. Good night.”
Goodnight, ladies.

Hey you two… none of that frisky business in the house, you hear?
“Awww fine. I’ll find some other trouble to get into.”

“How about this, Mom?”
No! O’Malley there is NO perching in the house, buster. You get down right now. I think it’s time for bed, young man. Good night everyone.
There’s a cold snap in Seattle for the next few days, and the ducks and rescued chickens are sleeping in the dining room tonight and tomorrow night. We bring them in when the temperatures drop below 25-degrees Fahrenheit. Flapper is funny in the house. He is close to the TV and can hear the TiVo sound effects. When he hears the TiVo go “boop bop” he says “quack quack” back to it. So all evening I hear “boop bop” when I change channels, followed by “quack quack.”
“Boop bop.”
“Quack quack.”
Stay warm, everyone. Brrrr!

Awww they look very contented! I love the first photo! Flapper’s looking so handsome!
Warm duckies are happy duckies:-) What a treat to swim leasurely in the people tub, super star treatment, but they deserve it, right?
I hope they will behave inside, everyone seems to be happy and comfortable.
We’re supposed to have a cold spell too later this week, but we don’t have room for eleven ducks and six geese inside, and ours don’t really need to, they all have new feathers and warm shelters. I’ll make sure Snuggles stays warm and if it should get really cold we’ll see what we do with him, I could arrange a crate for him inside my studio but it will freak him out more than it will do good. We’ll see.
Have fun kids, I hope the weather turns soon.
That is so funny. I laughed and laughed with Flapper quacking back to the TiVo. What a riot. I’m so glad they are inside. I’m always concerned for other animals out there that aren’t inside. We definitely have an arctic blast going on and maybe snow on fri/sat. So glad that duckies and chikins are inside. I’m sure the ducks love the tub.
I hope the french fry tree is doing ok outside in this cold weather.
I thought of Flapper and pals when I was at Country Village in Bothell this weekend; I was wondering about all the ducks and chickens that hang out there, and how they get along when it’s so cold.
I hope you can get a video of Flapper’s Tivo conversation; it sounds hysterical!
This story brought a smile to my face. If I ever win the lottery, half of it is going to Tiffany and the Flapper gang. You do such wonderful stuff Tiff. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pets.xx
Chewy and Flapper have sold me on bromance. I was dubious before, but a dynamic duo of this magnitude can only be appreciated. Meanwhile, O’Malley sure has some smooth moves!
Now that looks like one fun slumber party! It has been brutally cold here too, but at least we are not getting the snow we saw last winter.
