It isn't a real word, but it is a pretty common term here. The term may have originated with references to lice, fleas and other pests. A child is said to "catch" cooties through any form of bodily contact, proximity, or touching of an "infected" person. The phrase is most commonly used by children aged 5–10; however it is also used by many others older than 10 years of age. In fact I've experienced this with Pipke. The first thing she always wanted to do after her visit to the vet was washing herself very abundant. Once, Pipke her maximum weight was 2.400 kg, then is Chewy not such a heavy duck. I cross my fingers for the blood results!
