Amazing that ducks get that too though i know other furry animals get the arthritis too. At least he can be treated and have less pain. Love you Flap and glad that the bum is working better too. But I'm hopeful you'll find alternatives to treat it and that he won't have trouble walking. Maybe some aquarobics in warm water can relieve his pain too. Maybe the cold weather made him feel less happy too, I know the cold can have an effect on reumatism in people. Sending warm hugs to Flapper and you, this is surely a big burden off your shoulders. I know you are relieved, eventhough Flapper now seems to have arthritis, poor boy.
