Flapper the Duck at 4-Months-Old
(August 19, 2004)

Hey Flapper, remember Rufus (Cole) the duck at the Seattle Animal Shelter?

His hurt leg is doing better, but it turns out he is a bit too quacky for our quiet neighborhood.
He has a ton of personality to go with that adorable quack though, so I'm sure he'll find a good home very soon.
But... now there is a GIRL duck at the Seattle shelter who wants to meet you. She is recovering
from a dog bite but she should be up for a play date by next Saturday.

Would you like to meet her, Flapper? Her name is Georgie.

"Really? Do you think she will like me?"

Of course Flapper! You're very handsome and sweet. I think you two will get along really well.

"Is she cute?"

Yes she is very cute, but she doesn't look like you.
She's a smaller muscovy duck with a red face and bright blue eyes.

Some of her feathers are scruffy since she was hurt and alone for awhile.
But they will grow back with lots of love and care.

She has stitches at the base of her leg, but those will come out soon
and then we can bring her home to see if you two get along.

"Wow she sounds exotic! Does she like grapes? How about green peppers? Can she fly? I wonder if she quacks."

That's a lot of questions, Flapper. Why don't you ask her yourself when we meet her soon?

"Okay. I'd better go preen my feathers and shine my beak and clean up the wading pool."

This week Flapper found out he has some friends in Seattle.

These four ducks live with one of our AOL friends.

The big guy in the front looks a lot like you, Flapper.
And check out the "Don King" hairdo on the duck in the back. Very fancy!

Here is a photo of your likeness on the office conference room white board, Flapper.
I'm still not sure who drew it but it's FLAP-tastic!

Flapper would like to congratulate his friends at Smashing Ideas this week, on their move to new office space.

BEFORE: Graffiti on the front door, not enough power to run the coffee maker while making toast and no air conditioning.

AFTER: Swank new digs right downtown, with air conditioning and lots of space to grow.

AFTER: Killer view of the Public Market and Elliot Bay!

!!! Congratulations Smashing Ideas !!!

(Sniff sniff, they grow up so fast.)
